We are so excited for this new offering at Sharingwood Farmstead! It has long been a dream of Allison's to offer a Forest School to her community and she can't wait to launch this new endeavor! If you would like your child to regularly have an immersive, experiential outdoor learning experience mixed with academics, you have found the right place! Welcome to Sharingwood Farmstead's "All Things Great and Small" Micro Forest School! Friday mornings 9am- 12pm, September through April, children participating in the Micro Forest School will be outdoors during mild weather (indoor when inclement): --helping with the farm chores- learning responsibility, consistency and compassion --working as a group to build forts, shelters, fairy houses- learning communication, give and take, patience, and persistence --setting goals and objectives individually and as a group --learning ecology, permaculture, animal husbandry, history, science, and many valuable 'lost life-skills' For more information and details, email us! Full disclosure: The Sharingwood Farmstead Micro Forest School is centered on a belief in God and acknowledgment of His handiwork, but completely non-denominational. The inspiration and theme that came to Allison's mind in planning the curriculum for the year was the traditional Christian hymn "All Things Bright and Beautiful". She will be referring to the song at various points in the school year, but it can easily be applied to all religions--even just spiritualism in general or a belief in Mother Nature rather than the traditional view of God. The idea that Allison would like to convey to the children is gratitude and respect for the creations around us and each living thing being important, valued, and part of a greater whole. **New discount plan beginning Fall 2022: We recognize that programming for children adds up-- especially with multiple children! We have come up with a solution that we think is a real win-win! If you would like to receive a discount on any class/ activity/ camp/ or market purchase, please come to one of our Volunteer Saturdays! For every person* that works for a 2 hr block, we will give a $50 credit towards a class/ activity/ camp/ or purchase of your choice. That means that you can attend classes for much less than you would without volunteering and we get some much needed help around the farm! Win-win! Be sure to sign up for the "Volunteer Fall 2022" dates that you would like to attend! *usually ~10 years+
